What Do You Really Want?
You ever wake up one day and realize you’re just… going through the motions?
Like you’re living a life someone else designed for you, and somewhere along the way, you stopped questioning if it’s actually what you want?
I want you to stop. Right now. And ask yourself—what do you really want?
Not what you should want. Not what society, your family, your job, or your past self decided for you years ago.
What do you want?
Sit with that for a little while.
Because if you’re feeling frustrated, burned out, lost, or even just vaguely dissatisfied, there’s a reason for it.
Something inside you is screaming for change, and I don’t care how good you are at distracting yourself with work, social media, or a never-ending to-do list—at some point, it catches up to you.
So here’s your assignment. Not a to-do list, not a hack, not some five-step process to magically change your life.
Just this: be still.
No phone. No TV. No podcasts. No distractions. Just you and your thoughts, somewhere quiet—maybe outside, maybe in a cozy chair, maybe in bed before the rest of the world wakes up.
And let the questions come.
• Are you living in the right place? Or have you convinced yourself that this is fine when deep down, you know you crave something else?
• Are you doing work that lights you up? Or just what pays the bills?
• Are your relationships nourishing you, or are you holding onto people out of guilt, obligation, or fear of being alone?
• Is your body something you feel strong and good in, or have you been ignoring its whispers (or outright screams) for care?
• Do you feel free? Or are you caged by expectations, routines, and fears?
You don’t need to have the answers right away.
This isn’t about solving everything at once—hell, that would just stress you out more. But you do need to start listening.
Start noticing what makes you uncomfortable. Because discomfort? That’s your soul pointing at something and saying, this isn’t right.
And here’s the thing—you don’t have to fix it all at once. You don’t have to uproot your life overnight. But you do have to acknowledge it.
Because once you see it, you can’t unsee it. And once you admit to yourself that something needs to change, well… that’s when life gets interesting.
So promise me this—promise yourself this: you’re going to take the time. You’re not going to brush it off. If you can do it today, do it today. If not, don’t let a whole freaking week pass before you make space for it.
Because you’re worth it. Your life is worth it. And if you don’t stop and check in with yourself now, then when?
What’s Holding You Back?
So you’ve sat with yourself. You’ve asked the hard questions. You’ve let the truth rise to the surface—maybe for the first time in a long time.
Now what?
What’s keeping you from stepping into that truth?
What’s in the way?
Is it fear? Fear of failing, fear of judgment, fear of leaving behind the life you’ve built—even if it doesn’t quite fit anymore?
Is it comfort? That tricky little thing that keeps you planted exactly where you are, because this—even if it’s unfulfilling, even if it’s dulling your spirit—is at least familiar.
Is it the weight of responsibility? The belief that other people’s needs come first, that if you change, it will shake too many things up, that it’s “too late” or “too complicated” or “too much work” to go after something else?
Or maybe it’s something else entirely.
Maybe it’s a story you’ve been telling yourself for years about who you are and what you’re allowed to have. Maybe it’s an identity you’ve wrapped around yourself so tightly, you’ve forgotten you can take it off.
Whatever it is… name it.
Call it out. Look it in the eye. Because once you do, it loses some of its power.
And then—just ask yourself one more thing.
What’s the next step you can take?
Not the whole plan. Not some giant, life-altering move that overwhelms you into staying stuck. Just the next step.
Because clarity isn’t enough. Growth isn’t just about realizing what you want—it’s about doing something with that realization.
So what’s it gonna be?
Sit with that. Feel it. Let it move through you.
And then, when you’re ready—GO.
Drained? Unfocused? Running on fumes? You give so much-when’s the last time you gave back to yourself?

Great wake-up call. And the advice to stop, sit, and look for the answers from inside.
Last year, the wife and I realized we had lived our entire lives for our family. Raising kids and taking care of parents.
We chose where to live based on how we wanted to raise them. What kind of environment was best for them. We planned so that we could take care of my elderly parents. We got careers that fit those parameters.
We ended up with friends who matched the location, parameters, and careers.
And then the kids moved out, the friends got stuck in their ways, and we were left wondering why we did this again?
So now we have our own agenda.
This hit deep. It’s so easy to get caught up in routines and expectations without ever pausing to ask ourselves if this is truly the life we want. The questions you posed are powerful, and honestly, a little uncomfortable… but in the best way. Because discomfort, like you said, is a sign that something isn’t right. Thank you for this—it’s a wake-up call I won’t ignore.
