Kathleen, the rawness and vulnerability of this piece empowered me to feel more comfortable sharing some of my struggles more openly. Thank you for your bravery.

you're welcome, Ashley 🙏

For me it's easier to share here because these people don't know me personally, so I look at it as they can't hurt me. Don't get me wrong. I've become friends with many people, but they're long distance friends. I do think getting our thoughts and emotions out are very healing.

I didn't know that until I started to try to write here on Substack and then during that time I had a nephew who just turned 41 commit suicide and then the anniversary of my brother's death in 2017 and I actually had a nervous breakdown because of that, and recovered in about six months- and now recently, my mom after many hospitalizations since 2021 was diagnosed with rectal cancer at the beginning of April. The writing has helped me emotionally and I do believe that others have the same struggles because we all live in these bodies on this earth.

I subscribed to your publication and I look forward to reading your writing as well 🤗💕🙏

Thank you for subscribing! One of the first 😊

It sounds like you’ve made it through a lot of tough times and loss. Whether it’s talking or writing, both have helped me more than time itself to process trauma and just normal life. It’s wonderful this space has been an outlet. 💕✨

happy Easter, Nikki 🙏

What blows my mind is that these types of articles that aren't planned - that just come up in my spirit and heart due to something I may be going through at the time or something I'm remembering, seem to be the ones that people can relate to more than anything else. I'm so grateful and blessed as a new writer to read comments from you all that actually know what you're doing 😉

thank you! 💯

You didn’t just write, Kathleen. You ignited something in me with this beautiful piece.

The moment we stop letting that fear dictate the size of our dreams is the moment we start living again.

Thank you for sharing.

amen 🙏 I felt it so strong in my spirit. I was hoping it would resonate with others, but I had to say it either way. And you're right about when we let fear do any dictating over us.

you probably heard the story about the donkey that was thrown in a well, and they kept shoveling dirt on it. You know to kill it, and as they shoveled, the donkey would step up on the dirt and as a shovel more so the donkey instead of letting the dirt cover him and take his life, he used it to shake it off and stomp on it to eventually get all the way to the top of the well and when the people left that donkey walked right out of that well 🙌

Love that story. Life will throw things at us, and fear will whisper that we’re buried. But like that donkey, we get to choose to shake it off, step up, and rise.

This is fierce and authentic, Kathleen, and it feels right coming from you. Can I answer the call of the wild in July or August? 🙄 I honestly think I'm on the right path, I'm just hobbling instead of coming at it full force. You are a dynamo, though, and your writing impresses me. Thanks for this impressive article.

I think you're actually answering the call of the wild now it doesn't have to wait. but you can be more involved in embodied after your surgery and you know I will help you through your surgery. Anything that you need I can help with pain with the incisions. It's too bad we don't live closer. I would take care of you and help you and be your advocate with your physician. I've done it for so long but you know you can reach me whenever you want and I will help you. Everything's going to work out exactly like it should. I'm sorry you've had to wait so long.

Awww... that means a lot to me, Kathleen--I wish you were closer, too!. If everything goes as planned, I should have a relatively quick recovery (certainly shorter than waiting for an open surgery slot!) and be walking without equipment by late June. HALLELUJAH!
