I'm reading Sahil Bloom's new book 'The 5 types of Wealth' and he has the concept of goals and anti-goals. The anti-goals are these non negotiable things you mention - i.e. a parent who will not let their commitment to bedtime with their kids slip in pursuit of their career.
Love this post! I too have a short list of non-negotiables: 1. Go Outside 2. Eat a vegetable 3. Movement at least once a day.
I found that I had to weave them intentionally into my every day, just as you described here. It's so critical that we teach ourselves how to look after ourselves.
Rhian, you can start over anytime during the day. So if you missed it this morning, maybe you can do it now. I understand you may be in a time zone where it's already nighttime or something like that but if not do it f first chance you can 😉
Thank you Kathleen for this important reminder to notice what’s going on with yourself. The non-negotiables linked to self-care should never be let go. 💕
Wise words here Kathleen. I realise reading them that it was only the existence of my non-negotiables (didn't think of them like this before reading this piece) that prevented me from being burnt out a couple of years ago. For me, they are early morning walks alone, and yoga, most days. Also an afternoon nap after lunch.
Sounds perfect to me. Early morning walks or just being outside. I have 10 acres to walk on so I don't have to go far but yeah oh and an afternoon nap, I've been missing those 🤫
Love this! Thanks for sharing :)

I liked that reframe, so thought I'd share.
perfect analogy Lou 😉 welcome and thank you for taking the time to read the article 🙏

I like your list too . Simple and doable 💪
This is a great article. Today I missed one of my non-negotiables and I am feeling the deficit. I'll get back on track with it tomorrow morning.

Okay thank you, yes I’ll do it before bed. It’s just a little ten minute routine.
fantastic 🥰
Paying attention brings so much more awareness and care in. Thanks for this!

This helps me clarify my own priorities and non-negotiables. Thanks!
